ELWOOD, Indiana (September 1, 2023)
Allison Greig has been named the 2023 Red Gold Food Science Scholarship Award recipient. The Red Gold Purdue Food Science Scholarship is awarded to Purdue University students with strong aptitudes for a career in food science. In addition to the scholarship, Red Gold rewards the recipient with a paid internship at their Corporate Headquarters, along with hands-on experience at their three state-of-the-art food processing facilities and in their product development lab.
Allie is the daughter of Josh and Amie Greig of Fishers, IN. Allie is currently a junior working towards her Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University majoring in Food Science expecting to graduate in May of 2025. Allie is very active on campus, as she is the Director of Scholarship and previous Director of Art for Delta Gamma, a sorority at Purdue. She is also involved in the Food Science Club, the IFT Product Development Competitions, and Purdue Art community on campus. Outside of Purdue, she volunteers at the Humane Society. Through her internship with Red Gold, Allie gained a variety of skills including equipment calibration, product formulations and batching, sensory paneling and analytical testing. “I am extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to gain experience in the food science industry at Red Gold so early on in my career. While school is extremely valuable to my future, this experience has allowed me to apply my knowledge and learn things about the industry that I may not have been able to in a classroom. Red Gold has helped me gain more confidence in myself as a Food Scientist, which has enabled me to set and achieve more ambitious goals in my career” Allie states.
