ELWOOD, Ind.  (April 25th, 2023)
Red Gold is bringing back it’s annual Chili Cook-Off for it’s 35th Anniversary of the event on October 21st, 2023.  The event will coincide with the 12th Annual Red Gold Run to Crush Hunger for CRUSH HUNGER SATURDAY.  This will be the first time since 2019 where both events are held at the same time in downtown Elwood, IN.  ‘Crush Hunger Saturday’, is a family friendly day of fun which also includes Colts Blue Saturday, Indiana Craft Beer and Wine Garden, vendor booths and great entertainment.   The Run to Crush Hunger unites local communities to promote healthy and active lifestyles, while crushing hunger in Central Indiana.

Last year the event set a fund-raising record of $75,987.70 to benefit families needing the services of two area food banks.  The live running event drew a crowd of 823 participants from 91 different cities and seventeen states, along with spectators and festival goers who came to cheer on participants and participate in the activities downtown.  To participate as a vendor at the cook-off or register for the run please visit www.CrushHungerSaturday.com.

Since the race’s inception in 2012, more than half a million dollars have been raised in the effort to fight hunger; providing over 2,200,000 meals in local Hoosier communities. “This Madison County celebration is a popular venue and has quickly become a premier annual celebration that gives back to Indiana small towns and communities in so many ways,” said Colt Reichart, Senior Director of Marketing & Consumer Relations at Red Gold. Crushing hunger is the goal but so is having an impact on the Indiana youth and families who continue to participate and benefit more from active lifestyles.
