When Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Dan Rooney came back from another tour of duty in the Middle East, he had a life changing moment. Aboard an airliner he found a young army corporal who was flying back the remains of his twin brother who had been killed in action.
That moment also changed the lives of more than 24,000 family members whose loved ones have been killed or severely wounded in war.
Rooney began the Folds of Honor Foundation in 2007 with a singular mission to provide educational support to the spouses and children of fallen or disabled heroes. Red Gold® now supports the same mission with the launch of its new Folds of Honor tabletop ketchup. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the ketchup will go to support the foundation and the families that it benefits.
“The Red Gold history began in 1942 with the mission of creating great tomato products to support our troops,” says David Halt, Red Gold’s Vice-President of Foodservice. “It’s only natural that we maintain than heritage by supporting the Folds of Honor Foundation.” The American family-owned and operated company is the largest privately held tomato company in the US offering products to consumers and foodservice operators nationwide.
